Based on the existance of its genereus traditions, more than one hundred years, starting with 15th of May, 1956, in favour of number 346/29th of M ay Law, in the same year The “Operetta Theatre and Regional Estrada” was founded,  wearing from the beginning the name given by the locals, “Musical Theatre of Galati”, through 378/06 octomber 1972 law given by the council board , it is given the name of the great Leonard, “the prince of roumanian operetta”, becoming “Nae Leonard” Musical Theatre.

    In the landscape of lyrical art from our country, the Theatre of Galati has in this moment, after more than 50 years of existence, 229  titles of premiers and replays, keeping its specific,  also the realization on this stage in the same manner  of several opera works: operetta, balet, revue, musical comedies, symphonic concerts, different musical spectacoles for children etc.

    The majority of  renowned titles of opera and operetta’s creation saw the light of Galati stage, in different assembling, using the artistic work of some personalities in local domain, but also those made in the country and foreign.

    Independent interpreters, smaller and bigger groups, and even the entire collective, not once we made tours, that had excellent successes in Italy, Austria, Ucraine, with titles like :”Aida”, “Tosca”, “Traviata”, “Rigoletto”, “M-ma Butterfly”, “Hello, Dolly”, “Nabuco”, diverse concertes and revue plays etc.

    At their turn, they honoured the public and the interprets of Galati with their participation at spectacoles and concerts, numerous artistic personalities from country and foreign, without saying their names in this limited space for all.We will remember those who make part from our future programs.
